GB girls fail to qualify in Gstaad
5/7/11
The GB Women's teams were in action again on the FIVB World Tour, this time in Gstaad, Switzerland. Shauna Mullin and Zara Dampney's first match in the qualification tournament was against Urata/Take from Japan for the second year in a row. The GB girls won this after dropping the first set, 19-21, 21-19, 15-12.
Lucy Boulton and Denise Johns lost their first round match to Rutledge-Hochevar from the USA, 21-19, 17-21, 12-15, which put them out of the competition to finish 41st.
Mullin and Dampney were back in action later the same day for their second round qualification match against the Italian pair Gioria-Momoli, which they narrowly lost, 24-26, 23-21, 11-15. This put them out of the competition and earned them a 33rd place finish and a well-earned rest after a busy few weeks.
