Grade 1 Referee

This course takes place over a single evening session and two full days of competition approved by the Referees Commission. Completion of a minimum of 4 matches at National League Division 1 men (some observed)
The evening session covers theory, with lectures provided by the course tutors. In addition, candidates give 10 minute presentations on agreed pre-course topics.

During the rest of the course, candidates officiate as both first and second referee. Performance is initially reviewed by tutor debrief and later by self-evaluation with tutor input. After 4 appointed matches in the National League (Div 1 men), some observed, the candidate is assessed pass or fail.

Grade 1 can only take place at a high level tournament
