Scottish Ambassadors - Jennifer Thom

I started playing volleyball when I started secondary school at Queensferry High School. As a team we played Junior National League in which we went on to win. We also played National League and we slowly worked our way up to division one. We were champions for 3 years running as well as winning the Scottish cup twice.  When I was 19 I was selected to play for Scotland, where I travelled all over for various events. I travelled to places such as Liectenstein, Holland, Spain and Iceland.

It wasn't until the summer of 2006 the GB team started to get together. Throughout the year I attended training camps in Sheffield. We played tournaments in Sweden and the Switzerland.  In September 2007 a group of players moved to Sheffield to start full-time training.

Our biggest result was beating Kazakstan, we then spent 3 weeks in Puerto Rico and Dominican republic gaining great match experience. We have also been to Japan where we played high level volleyball daily, it has probably been our best trip so far and we hope to return in August.

I am really enjoying what I am doing, and my goal is 2012. The training is hard work and balancing training with work can be challenging but I think it will all be worth it.
