Olympic Referee breaks another record

Brian McDougall has been nominated to referee in the FIVB 2013Brian McDougall World League in Korea. In the opening weekend of the World League, Brian will take charge as Japan take on arch rivals Korea in a double header in Hwasung, South Korea on 1st and 2nd June. Brian will act as 1st and 2nd referee on consecutive days.

Japan and Korea are in Pool C for the FIVB World League Intercontinental Round, which also features Canada, Finland, the Netherlands and Portugal.  The top 18 Men’s National teams will compete in 3 pools for a place in the Finals in Argentina in July. Japan will be coached by Gary Sato who was assistant coach for the USA men’s team in London 2012.

As the first British referee to officiate in the World league, this is a fantastic achievement for Brian, and follows on from his success in the London 2012 Olympic games where he refereed 7 matches including 2nd Referee in the women’s semi final match between USA and Korea.

Brian said “I feel very honoured to receive this prestigious nomination, as this is the top level of Men’s competition available. I am really looking forward to it”
