Did you share in the excitement of watching Scotland’s Beach Pairs play in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games?
Were you inspired by the attitude and performances of our Beach athletes in the Games?
Were you impressed by the back-story on the dedication and commitment our players demonstrated in the preparation for this Global event?
If the answer to these questions is “Yes” then it is time to start planning for the 2018 Scottish Beach Tour.
The Scottish Volleyball Association will organise and present two new development initiatives that are designed to help raise the performance standards on the Scottish Tour. The first is a level II Beach coaching course, the second will be two CPD Clinics.
The Level II Coaching course
|Sunday 13th May||Coaching theory day||South Queensferry High School|
|Sunday 3rd June||First practical day||Portobello Beach|
|Saturday 9th June||Second practical day||Portobello Beach|
The course content will include;
- Continue to develop an understanding of the techniques and tactics of Beach play, and how to use the coaching process to improve performance
- Have a more informed understanding of performance analyses – including an acknowledgement of the difference between a symptom and a flaw
- Have a more informed understanding of the role that review and reflection plays in the coaching process
BEACH VOLLEYBALL CLINIC
The CPD Clinic will take place on Sunday 10th June presented by Men’s Gold Coast coaches and SVA Coaches of the year, Barry McGuigan and Graham Riddle
|10.00 – 12.00||Decision making in block-defence||Portobello Beach|
|13.00 – 15.00||Hitting with power on the Beach||Portobello Beach|
The cost of the CPD Clinics is £20 each, but if you sign up for both the combined figure will be £30.
Portobello Beach might not match the facilities seen at the Gold Coast, but we can match the commitment and build on the success of our tremendously talented athletes and coaches.
