The first ever Flying Scots Intra Squads competition did not disappoint!
This historic event placed a flag in the ground for the future of volleyball in Scotland and the future is FLYING!
The Flying Scots athletes, parents/carers, fans, volunteers and team staff came together to make a fantastic, fun, family atmosphere. We would also like to extend a Flying Scots thank you all of the St Andrews University staff – The University have been a champion of this programme and this was clear in their attention to detail in the support of the SVA staff in the set-up of the facilities and the support their venue staff gave to all staff, volunteers, athletes and spectators at the event. The preparation from the athletes with their coaching and support staff was clear as a marker was set for future Flying Scots to aspire to.
With a new points system developed by SVA staff and Referee Organiser Adam Paton Flying Scots East asserted their dominance within the first White Vs White and Blue Vs Blue clashes. Victories in both the boys and girls saw the East develop and maintain a healthy lead against their counterparts in the West. The final girls Blue Vs Blue match up saw a thrilling 3 set match.
However, in the third and deciding set the Flying Scots East showed great composure against a strong West team and delivered a high standard of volleyball to take the victory.
With this year’s victory the Flying Scots East will wear a championship star on their 2019 Intra Squads kit. The legacy of these 
pioneering Flying Scots.
The East & West teams now march on to the Flying Scots International Invitational Competition at St Andrews from 31st August
until 2nd September.
The match Schedule has been confirmed and the event is free to all spectators. Come along and show your support for the Flying
Scots as they take on North West England and Northern Ireland Volleyball in both the boys and girls competition.
