A new beginning in Forth Valley Area

The Scottish Volleyball Association are excited to announce the launch of a new regional volleyball association in Scotland.

The Central Scotland Volleyball Association will cover the Forth Valley district of Scotland, looking to reignite and develop both competition and passion for the sport in the area.

The newly formed district is planning to work directly with councils and schools in the local area. Partnerships have already been created with Active Stirling, Stirling University Volleyball club and Dunblane High School, with the new relationships bringing volleyball to the sporting forefront in the district.

Education & Participation Officer, Martyn Johnstone, gives us an insight into the work that has been going on within the area over the last few months:

‘The partnership work that has been going on behind the scenes has been exceptional. Rowan Johnston (University of Stirling) has been instrumental in administering the reintroduction of the CSVA and a massive thank you to her and all that she does in the area.

Jill McKay (Dunblane High School) has engaged very heavily through the planned introduction of the CEV Schools Project in the Dunblane cluster in which we had to postpone due to COVID-19. This will be picked up again with the Cluster once we return to the School estates.

Another fantastic partnership we have created was with Active Stirling’s Community Activation Officer Ruth Henderson and Active Schools Manager Colin Naismith. The creation of a new ‘Dig It’ session due to take place in Bridge of Allan is a real signal of intent to build the volleyball public within the local area.

It is easy to make these things happen when you have such a dedicated group of individuals supporting the project. If you wish to get involved in any of the activities within the Central Scotland area, please email centralscotvb@outlook.com for check out our Facebook Page for more information.

Keep an eye out for new opportunities for participation in the initial stages of the launch, mindful of guidelines and information given to us by the Scottish government.
