Ayr set for new inland beach facility

Scottish Volleyball are delighted to share with you the approved plans for a brand-new inland beach volleyball facility situated at Kyle academy in Ayr.  This new purpose build facility will be one of the largest of its kind in Scotland and is the result of many months of development work with our partners at South Ayrshire Council.

The facility is earmarked to open before the end of March 2022, and we are already working on some exciting plans for school and community use.  The project will see two full size Olympic level courts separated by a divider net.  One these courts will have an innovative removable long net system designed for school and community use to maximise participation and teaching space.

CEO Margaret Ann Fleming MBE said “Scottish Volleyball is thrilled with this new development. Our regional development officer Blair Pettigrew and other staff have been working with several partners on the project for the last six months and it great to be able to finally share the plans with our membership.”

RDO Blair Pettigrew added “I am delighted with this new development; I would like to praise South Ayrshire council and Kyle Academy for embracing this opportunity to provide a world class inland beach facility for the community of South Ayrshire and the wider Volleyball family.  I look forward to working with our events team, local clubs, our Beach Volleyball Commission, the School and South Ayrshire’s Sport and Active Schools’ team to maximise the use of this facility over the coming years.”
