Covid-19 update – 15th December

Dear club,

Following yesterday’s communication about the upcoming fixtures on Saturday 18th December, we can confirm our position as a sport following consultation with sportscotland and Scottish Government.

We understand the announcement made yesterday by the First Minister may have caused some confusion with regards to sport and physical activity and hope to provide some clarity.

The guidance on a 3-household gathering indoors as from Saturday 18th of December is for social gatherings and does not relate to organised sport and physical activity. This will not affect our SVL competitions, therefore our scheduled fixtures are permitted to go ahead as planned.

As a reminder to all, the 10 days isolation rule, regardless of the vaccination status, applies to positive Covid-19 cases within your household only. Please continue to follow Scottish Volleyball and your local facilities’ guidance.

Ahead of this weekend fixtures, we ask that clubs enforce the following key points:

  • Robust personal hygiene measures;
  • Wear face coverings at all times, unless involved in the field of play;
  • Advise all players, coaches, referees and spectators to take lateral flow tests before coming to the venue.

We appreciate that this is a very unsettling time. We are trying our very best to fulfil your affiliation expectations and provide you with a season which is uninterrupted as much as possible.

Should the situation change, you will be notified as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with the Competitions Officer at competitions@scottishvolleyball.org

We wish you all the very best over the festive season.

Margaret Ann Fleming,
