Junior Athletes Set for Junior Commonwealth Cup

Scottish Volleyball would like to wish the best of luck to our young pairs heading down to Cardiff this weekend for the Commonwealth Beach Volleyball Cup. The competition will see junior athletes from across the UK compete for the title, providing a platform for players to show their skills at a national level. Junior Boy’s coach Jack McKeown said, “I’m looking forward to coaching this year’s boys, and watching their own volleyball careers develop over the years ahead.”

“All the athletes really enjoyed and benefited from representing their country at beach volleyball in the last event. What’s been wonderful is seeing many of the juniors who played in the 2019 event go on to become extraordinary players – most notably Euan Fraser and David Mexson, who both now play at a high level.”

Head of the Junior National Beach Programme, Colin Paterson, added, “The boys and girls are excited for the trip to Cardiff and, with one last training session tonight, will be raring to go on Saturday. The event is a fantastic opportunity for junior development and will provide players with an enthusiasm and excitement for their future beach careers.”
