Flying Scots – Successful Start!
On Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of June 76 U16 Girls and U17 boys arrived at Dundee University, the Citadel Sports Centre and Belmont Academy for the first weekend the Flying Scots 2018. Lead by Ian Brownlee & Ross Allan in the East and Tom Rooney & Jess Reid in the West the first weekend of trials was a huge success.
On Saturday the 23rd of June the Flying Scots continue on to the second of three trial dates. West boys and girls trial taking place at Wishaw Sports Centre between 10am and 3pm and the East boys and girls at Perth College 10am-4pm. Spaces are still available in the West and East for both boys and girls and if you wish to be involved please complete the relevant paperwork within the Flying Scots Welcome Pack or contact our Club & Participation Development Officer.
The third and final trial will take place on Saturday the 4th of August at the Citadel Leisure Centre for the West (10am-3pm) and Perth College (10am-4pm) for the East. Following the final trial date selection will be made for the 20-24 athletes (per gender, per region) who will compete at the Intra Squads Competition held on Sunday the 19th August at St Andrews University and for the final 12 players (per gender, per region) who will represent the Scotland East and West at the Flying Scots International Tournamnet at St Andrews University Friday 31st August to Sunday the 2nd September.

We are very pleased to announce the University of Dundee as our first member of the ‘Friends of the Flying Scots’. The Scottish Volleyball association fund the Flying Scots programme along with player/parent/carer contributions making partnership support vital to the long term viability of the programme.
