YS Men - Expressions of interest

The next two-year cycle for our young senior men’s volleyball has restarted. The first two sessions were Fast Track setter/outside hitters clinics held on Sunday 14th October and Sunday 4th November at three different locations in the North, South West and Central Belt. These are the first of many sessions that will culminate in a team being selected to represent Scotland at the next men’s under-20 Small Countries Championships to be hosted in April 2020.

The programme this cycle will depart from the Senior Men’s National Team Programme, which is now being led by Ally Jack. The under-20 squad will be headed by Thomas Dowens and assisted by the regular team of club coaches.

Nominations are therefore now sought from club junior coaches and schoolteachers of players who are eligible for these championships. Players should have been born in 2001 or later to qualify. They should be willing to attend at least 80% of the sessions, which are normally hosted in the central belt, that take place over the two year period. There are places for up to 30 players at the initial stages. It is helpful if players have experience at Junior National League level, or school festivals, but the key ingredients are commitment and a desire to learn and improve.

Dates in the pipeline this season are:

Sat 15/12/18 - Final Fast Track session ((Ayr, Aberdeen, Edinburgh)
Fri 28 to Sun 30/12/18 - Christmas Camp (Ravenscraig)
Sun 27/1/2019 - YS Tournament with SSS teams (Wishaw)
Sat 16/2/19 -  YS Practice Session (Wishaw)
Sun 17/3/19 - YS Practice Session (Wishaw)
Sat 20/4/19 - YS Tournament (Wishaw)

If you are interested, please email Bill Stobie, team manager to obtain a registration form. I look forward to hearing from you.
