2020 Men’s District League

2020 Women’s District League

Season 2018/19 has been a fantastic season for the Lothian and Borders Volleyball Association. Not only have we recorded the highest number of indoor teams for the District in the past 30 years, we have also increased the number of juniors competing from Under 11 through to Under 18 level.

This season we ran 6 4v4 competitions at University of Edinburgh in partnership with EUVC. These competitions allow for maximum participation but also bring a very good social feel to them. Over the course of the competitions we had 60 teams competing in the hall which is filled with a buzz and excitement which is only good for volleyball as a whole.

The LBVA 6v6 competition has grown again this year and is now up to 16 teams with a great mix from clubs in the Lothian and Borders all plying their trade in a bid to be crowned league champions. From the 16 teams, there has been over 100 players playing in the league also ensuring a very strong membership growth from the district.

The LBVA is delighted to be working with such driven clubs and individuals who love and care deeply about volleyball. The District Association continues to grow due to the volunteer base and the work happening in the clubs. This not only has an effect on the district association, but also Scottish Volleyball as a whole.

Planned summer activities include supporting the Flying Scots Programme, the Scottish Beach Volleyball Tour, the junior pathway sessions for beach volleyball and also working with the Regional Development Officer during summer camps for the junior players already in attendance at LBVA events. The District Association will also support the start-up of the new Edinburgh Beach Volleyball Club.

The LBVA would love to mention the great junior work going on within their clubs. The long term thinking from City of Edinburgh was shown in abundance at the Scottish Volleyball National Cup Finals with City of Edinburgh VC / Queensferry HS winning 8 out of 8 finals contested. A lot of these players started their trade in the LBVA District League so it is a valuable tool to the long term success of these players.
