Scottish Volleyball are delighted to announce the new 4 Region approach to Youth Aged Volleyball, commencing this summer with our Beach Volleyball discipline.
The aim of this programme is to ensure participants have an opportunity to improve their game in their local area. We want our athletes to not only focus on what they can do on the court, but also be guided by the coaches to make them well rounded individuals off the court with some athlete education.
The programme is designed for anyone under the age of 18 as at 31/12/2021.
2021 Regional Beach Volleyball Programme Dates
Due to existing Junior Programme Schedules, the sessions in the East and West Regions will be advertised ASAP.
To ensure clarity for the Regions, the below table shows which Local Authorities will be linked to each Region.
The 4 Development Sessions across all Regions will follow the same Player Development structure to ensure all the athletes are learning common technical and tactical information.
The Regional Competition will be run by the Local Organising Club with the sole focus on maximum participation.
The Inter-Varsity Competition will be held at a central venue on 22nd August with participants competing on behalf of their region to be named Inter-Regional Winners.
The Regional Finals will be the final competition of the beach season in which the coaches will put the participants into teams to compete as a pair to try to take home the National Championships.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the participants to get involved in Phase 1 of this newly constructed Regional Development Programme and to ensure they are prepared to move onto the National Team pathway. Our Junior Beach Volleyball Head Coach will be involved in the programme to identify potential new recruits to their National Team programme which will also run over the course of this summer.
